Stay connected beyond the limits of mobile networks
Adventure riding is about discovering remote places, leaving familiar roads behind, and travelling independently. But the further a route leads away from towns and populated areas; the less reliable mobile coverage can become. For riders travelling alone or in small groups, reliable communication can therefore be an important part of their preparation.
The compact and rugged Garmin inReach® Mini 3 Plus uses the Iridium® satellite network to help riders stay connected when no cellular service is available¹. With an active satellite subscription, users can exchange two-way text messages, send voice messages, and share their location. Photos can also be exchanged using the Garmin Messenger™ app on a paired compatible smartphone.
Keeping others informed
LiveTrack™ makes it possible to share progress updates with friends or family, including information such as location, distance, time, and elevation. This means that people at home can follow the journey even when the route leads through remote regions¹.
Unlike a traditional satellite phone, the inReach Mini 3 Plus focuses on messaging, location sharing and emergency communication rather than conventional telephone calls. Its built-in speaker and microphone make it possible to record and receive voice messages, while the colour touchscreen allows messages to be entered directly on the device.
When paired with a compatible Garmin Tread® device, inReach messages can also be exchanged through the navigation device. This creates a useful connection between navigation and satellite communication on longer off-road journeys.
Support in an emergency
In the event of a medical, technical, or other serious emergency, users can trigger an interactive SOS message¹. The alert is transmitted to Garmin Response℠, an international emergency response coordination centre staffed 24 hours a day.
The Garmin Response team communicates with the user, obtains further information about the situation and helps to coordinates assistance with the appropriate local emergency services. Two-way communication can be particularly helpful when language barriers, an unclear location or a complex situation make it difficult to organise assistance independently.
Nevertheless, an inReach device should always be considered part of a wider emergency plan. It does not replace careful route preparation, suitable equipment, local knowledge, or responsible decision-making.
Designed for multi-day adventures
The inReach Mini 3 Plus is designed for demanding outdoor use and offers up to 350 hours of battery life in 10-minute inReach tracking mode, making it suitable for multi-day journeys where regular charging may not always be possible.
Its compact size means that it can be carried directly by the rider. From a safety perspective, we recommend keeping an emergency communicator on the body or in an easily accessible place rather than attaching it exclusively to the motorcycle. If rider and motorcycle become separated after an accident, the device should remain within reach.
Important information: An active satellite subscription is required for most inReach functions. Some countries regulate or prohibit the use of satellite communication devices. Riders are responsible for checking and complying with all applicable regulations in the countries through which they travel. Photo sharing requires the Garmin Messenger app on a paired compatible smartphone.

For ACT riders, satellite communication can provide an additional level of communication as part of a broader emergency prepardness plan when travelling through remote areas. It can help keep family and friends informed, support communication within an agreed emergency plan and provide access to coordinated assistance if a serious incident occurs.
Before departure, riders should familiarise themselves with the device, test messaging and tracking functions, verify their subscription and ensure that their emergency contacts know how shared locations and notifications will be provided.
